Transcreating with Confidence: Strategic Thinking for Creative Work
Transcreation can be daunting, unless you have a tried-and-tested strategy. And that’s what you’ll take away from this workshop led by expert transcreator Claudia Benetello.
You’ll learn a structured 9-step workflow that formalises best practices and makes transcreation systematic by:
– exploring viable creative routes
– weighing trade-offs
– making deliberate choices you can defend to clients
You’ll see this approach in action during the hands-on practice with source texts in English, French, Spanish, German or Italian. And you’ll come away with an approach grounded in strategic thinking and decision-making, not just inspiration.
Tues 12 May 2026, 5.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m.
University College London, Gower Street*, WC1E 6BT, Room: TBC
*Please meet at 4.45 p.m. in the upstairs reception (before the barriers) at No. 26 Bedford Way, where you will be met by two student helpers. Our UCL staff member Daniela Ford will then take us to Room 113.
UCL does not provide catering. Feel free to bring drinks and snacks with you. After the event, you are very welcome to join Claudia and the LRG Events Team for a local drink and/or meal.

LRG Summer Social 2026
Join us for the annual LRG summer social. This year we’re visiting the best boozers in Balham.
We’ll meet at the Devonshire at the bottom of Balham Hill, then meander south along the high street to Balham Bowls Club.
We then have the option of continuing to the Regent, or heading straight to the Bedford for dinner.
Food is half price at the Bedford! If you’re eating, you’ll need to choose what 2 weeks before (we’ll send the menu nearer the time).
Balham is easily reached by tube on the Northern Line and by train from London Victoria.
All pubs are within 5 minutes walk of Balham tube/rail station.
Tues 9 June 2026 6.00 p.m. to 11.00 p.m.
Meet: The Devonshire Pub, 39 Balham High Road Balham, London SW12 9AN

LRG London Spy Tour Westminster and St James’

Among his many talents, David is a member of the Magic Circle and has promised to treat us to a couple of his truly astonishing tricks.
The tour lasts approximately 2 hours, ending at Carlton House Terrace. We will then head to the nearby Horse and Guardsman in Whitehall or Admiralty in Spring Gardens for dinner. Both pubs are close to Trafalgar Square. Let us know if you want to join!
